The Eighty Heads of Antinoo in Plaster
Red art, white noise: the development of information and communication technology and of speed news originally served the purpose to bring the news of war, the accounts of the slaughter to the other – particularly to the other who is oneself thus including one into the space of violence. Long before the work of art tried to complete itself in the eyes of the beholder, the art of war had already completed itself in the head of the receiver of the news. Antiquity to Android, Terminator to Terminal – from terminal: constituting the end, terminalis: attributed to the end, the limit. Today terminals are linked in large numbers, the Killing Field is limitless, and the news that rush ahead generate white noise of indifference in the heads of the modern warriors. Against this deathly cycle only one objection can be made: What if the receiver of the news is the lover and the warrior’s endlessness comes upon the endless power of love? Upon the lover who can experience himself only in the unity of the world, in the uniqueness of his own existence and in that of the other?
A young Roman, Antinoo, ordered the Greek Field by H. B.
